Senegalese President Faye Strengthens Ties with Saudi Arabia

Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in a “warm and constructive” exchange aimed at enhancing the relationship between Senegal and Saudi Arabia, underscoring shared values and common interests.

The leaders discussed deepening their strategic partnership across key sectors, including investment, energy, agriculture, industry, and digital technology, as part of a joint vision for sustainable prosperity and the well-being of both nations’ populations.

Ahead of the meeting, President Faye presented Senegal’s Vision 2050 at the Future Investment Initiative 2024 forum, outlining a strategic economic plan focused on local raw material processing, energy transition, business climate improvement, and human capital investment.

He emphasized projects like solar energy and offshore gas development to lower electricity costs, as well as the creation of special economic zones to attract international investors. Faye highlighted Senegal’s political stability, urging investors to “look at Africa with different eyes.”

This presentation set the stage for Faye’s meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, marking a step forward in strengthening bilateral ties between Senegal and Saudi Arabia.
