Senegal’s President Faye Hosts Sudan’s Transitional Leader Amid Ongoing Crisis

Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye met with Sudan’s Transitional President, General Abdel Fatah Al Burkhan, on Monday to discuss the political and security challenges facing Sudan.

The visit highlighted the enduring armed conflicts that continue to undermine peace and stability in Sudan.

President Faye commended General Al Burkhan’s initiative, describing it as a reflection of the “solid and historic links between Dakar and Khartoum.

” During their discussions, President Faye expressed deep concern over the humanitarian suffering in Sudan and emphasized Senegal’s unwavering commitment to fostering peace in the region.

“The Head of State renewed Senegal’s commitment to peace and stability in the region.

He called on all stakeholders to dialogue and consultation, the only ways for a lasting return to peace in Sudan,” stated a post on the official Facebook page of the Presidency of Senegal.

Dakar marked the third stop on General Al Burkhan’s diplomatic tour, following his visits to Mali and Guinea-Bissau.
