Senegal’s Sangomar Oil Field Surpasses Expectations with 17 Million Barrels Produced

Senegal’s Sangomar oil field has exceeded initial projections, producing an impressive 17 million barrels of crude oil since operations commenced.

The Ministry of Petroleum and Mines announced the milestone on Tuesday, emphasizing the field’s pivotal role in driving the growth of Senegal’s oil and gas sector. To date, approximately 3 million barrels have been successfully commercialized, reflecting the field’s strong market potential and operational efficiency.

Sangomar, located offshore, is positioned to become a cornerstone of Senegal’s economic development. The project has not only bolstered the country’s energy sector but also created opportunities for investment, job creation, and revenue generation.

“This achievement underscores the immense potential of the Sangomar oil field to transform Senegal into a leading oil and gas producer in the region,” stated a Ministry spokesperson.

As production continues to scale, Sangomar is expected to contribute significantly to Senegal’s long-term energy strategy and its aspiration to become a key player in the global oil market.
