The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) announced on Monday that it is investigating an incident involving United Airlines Flight 613, which experienced sudden aircraft movement on Friday, causing minor injuries to passengers and crew.
The Boeing 787, en route from Lagos, Nigeria, to Washington D.C., encountered the issue while flying through Ivory Coast airspace. Aviation officials in Ivory Coast delegated the investigation to the NTSB, which plans to release a preliminary report within 30 days.
United Airlines stated that the flight, carrying 245 passengers, three pilots, and eight flight attendants, returned to Lagos following the unexpected movement and a technical issue. The plane landed safely, and six individuals—four passengers and two flight attendants—received treatment at a hospital for minor injuries before being discharged.
The incident highlights the importance of safety protocols, and the NTSB’s findings are expected to provide further clarity on the cause.
