The UK government has granted no fewer than 430,000 visas to Nigerians seeking to study and relocation to the European country.
British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Dr. Richard Montgomery, made this known during a meeting with Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), in Abuja, Abike Dabiri-Erewa.
Dr Montgomery was speaking on the heels of recent unrest in the UK, assuring the Nigerian government of the safety of its citizens.
According to him, sixty special courts have been set up to tackle criminal activities related to the unrest, with approximately 400 arrests made in connection to the violence.
In her remarks, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, confirmed that no Nigerian casualties have been reported so far in the UK unrest.
Dabiri–Erewa commended the UK government for its swift actions, especially the arrests, and advised Nigerians to remain safe, vigilant, and adhere to the travel advisories issued by Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
