The West Africa Democracy Solidarity Network (WADEMOS) and the West Africa Election Observers Network (WAEON) have urged Ghana’s Electoral Commission to prioritize transparency by enhancing communication and swiftly providing political parties with the comprehensive and final voter register ahead of the 2024 general elections.
In their Pre-Election Solidarity Mission Report, both organizations stressed that the timely release of the voter register is crucial for helping political parties organize their activities and minimizing the potential for electoral disputes.
They also voiced concerns about the escalating political rhetoric between the two major parties, the NDC and NPP, warning that such tensions could undermine peace. WADEMOS and WAEON called for restraint and careful communication from all political actors to ensure a peaceful and fair election process.
