WEST AFRICA NOW: Unmasking Political Tensions in Benin and Burkina Faso

In this Episode we focused on two alarming developments that are shaking the political stability of Benin and Burkina Faso.
In Benin, two men close to President Patrice Talon have been arrested, accused of plotting a coup against the president. Olivier Boko, a businessman and longtime confidant of Talon, along with Oswald Homeky, a former sports minister, have been charged with conspiracy against state security, corruption of public funds, and money laundering. Boko, who many believe was gearing up for a run in the 2026 presidential election, is being called the mastermind behind this alleged coup attempt.

Meanwhile, in Burkina Faso, the country’s military junta claims it has thwarted an attempted coup by members of its security and intelligence services. This follows the detention of four officers in connection with the plot, adding to the growing concerns about the fragile political landscape in the region.
